These are the same guys who cold-call your house claiming to represent local police, or local firefighters etc. I wonder how much of their gross take actually goes to the organizations they claim to represent. Amusingly, they cold-call numbers that aren't even in the area where those organizations operate. Collapse

TBS called and stated that they were conducting a fundraiser to raise funds for disabled officers. They wanted to hold a special sports game and were requesting donations. They said the checks would be made payable to the Sheriff's Office. When I asked if the caller was from the Sheriff's Office, he said "No". He said he was from another company because the Sheriff's Office couldn't accept donations. When I asked how the check could be cashed if the Sheriff's Office couldn't accept donations, he hung up on me. So, I did my own research and this is what I found out: Not everything on the internet is believable; however, these websites do mention some interesting information: http://ag.ca.gov/charities/publications/2002cfr/2002cfr_table1.pdf (look at page 2 / footer states page 5) http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2003/05/19/MN31930.DTL&type;=printable http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-408-866-0517 Collapse
