On the eve of World War II, a British officer (Robert Taylor) revisits Waterloo Bridge and recalls the young man he was at the beginning of World War I and the young ballerina ()Vivien Leigh) he met just before he left for the front. Myra stayed with him past curfew and is thrown out of the corps de ballet. She survives on the streets of London, falling even lower after she hears her true love has been killed in action. But he wasn't killed...
Tin Pan Alley (1940)
In 1915, Calhoun and Harrigan (Jack Oakie and John Payne) are struggling songwriters who team up with vocal talents Katie and Lily Blane (Alice Faye and Betty Grable). With the Blanes singing their songs, the writers become more prosperous and famous. Harrigan and Katie Blane become romantically involved and he writes "America, I Love You" which he promises she can introduce to the world. When the world-famous Nora Bayes asks to sing Katie's song, Harrigan cannot refuse. Upset at the broken promise, Katie leaves for London along with her sister. As their prosperity fades without the singers, the two men enlist in World War I and run into the sisters in England.
